The map

The map shows the places of the kingdom. Most are in ruins. Scout to find them, then rebuild them to open new activities, recipes, shops and bonuses.

The short version

  • Scouting finds new places next to the ones you have rebuilt.
  • Open a place on the Map to see what it needs, what it costs and what you get.
  • Press Rebuild it. Your character makes the missing materials step by step, then rebuilds the place.
  • Rebuilding is permanent. You never lose a rebuilt place.
  • Travel costs coins per step. Some activities only work while you are at their place.

What do the places on the map mean?

  • Unexplored: not found yet.
  • Frontier: close enough for Scouting to find next.
  • Discovered (in ruins): found. It shows what it needs, its cost and what you get.
  • Rebuilt: done. It gives what its page lists, for good.

How do I find new places?

Choose Scouting, or press Scout the frontier on the Map. Scouting can find a place when:

  • it is next to a place you have rebuilt, and
  • you have one of the skill levels it asks for.

If Scouting finds nothing, rebuild a place at the edge of the map, or train a skill that a nearby place asks for. Places are always found in the same order. Scouting also has other activities that bring back wild materials. They train Scouting even when nothing is left to find.

How does Rebuild it work?

  1. Open a ruined place on the Map. Check what it needs and what it costs.
  2. Press Rebuild it. You need one of the skill levels it asks for.
  3. Your character uses what is already in your bank first. Then it makes each missing material, ingredients first. The button shows the step, like Rebuilding · step 2 of 5. If a step only works at another rebuilt place, it walks there and pays the road.
  4. When everything is ready, it walks to the place and hands it all over. The place is rebuilt.

After that, your character does nothing until you choose the next activity.

What stops Rebuild it?

  • It never fights. If a material only comes from a fight, you have to bring it yourself.
  • It stops when nothing left on the list can be made, or when you cannot pay for a road.
  • It stops when you choose another activity or travel yourself.
  • The cost list on the place's panel always shows what is still missing.

Travel

You can travel to any place you have discovered, along discovered roads. Each step costs 10 coins, down to 4 as your Scouting level goes up (see Coins). Walking between the homestead and the hearth-yard is free. An activity that belongs to a place is blocked while you are somewhere else.

All places are listed on the Kingdom page.

Exact numbers

A place's cost is its base amounts times its scale. The scale makes each step of Rebuild it a real stretch of work. Construction XP is paid on the base amounts only: 5 XP per base unit. So at a scale of 20, you get 5 XP for every 20 units you hand over.
