Coins

Coins pay for bank slots, travel, shop goods, King's Road stations and tempering. You earn most of them by selling what you make.

The short version

  • Sell items from the Bank. High-quality items sell for more.
  • Quests pay coins, once each. There are 40. See Quests.
  • When the bank is full, buy a slot. The first extra slot costs 20 coins.
  • Shops charge 4× an item's sell price, so making things yourself is always cheaper.
  • Travel costs 10 coins per step, less as Scouting goes up. Walking between the homestead and the hearth-yard is free.

How do I earn coins?

  • Selling from the Bank. High-quality items get +25%. Rebuilt markets, a crafting activity at mastery 99, and some King's Road designs add more. Some designs take a little off instead.
  • Quests pay once each. A quest that asks for items pays at least twice what those items would sell for.
  • Rebuilding some places pays coins once.
  • Tax income: a few coins per hour from places you rebuilt.

For the best coins per hour, see the money guide.

What do coins buy?

  • Bank slots. Each slot you buy costs more than the last. Rebuilding some places also gives free slots.
  • Travel on the Map, per step of road.
  • Shop goods in the Market. A shop opens when its place is rebuilt. Some goods can only be bought, not made.
  • King's Road designs. Coins plus goods. See The King's Road.
  • Tempering gear into High quality. See Quality.

Bank slots

You start with 12 slots. Each different item takes one slot. The price stops rising at 150,000 coins a slot.

Everything the shops sell

Buy these in the Market once the place is rebuilt. Shops never sell raw materials, so gathering is the only way to get them. Bought items are Normal quality. You can use them to rebuild places, but it is the expensive way.

Exact numbers

  • Sell price: the item's price, × (100 + 25) ÷ 100 if high quality, then × (100 + your sell bonuses) ÷ 100. Each step rounded down.
  • Shop price: 4 × the item's sell price.
  • Bank slots: the price rises with each slot you buy, up to 150,000 coins. After that every slot costs the same.
  • Station designs: replacing one pays the new design's full cost. There is no refund.
