Quality
Most items come in two qualities: Normal and High quality. High-quality items sell for more, and high-quality gear and food work better.
The short version
- Each item you make or gather has a chance to be high quality. The action's page shows the chance.
- The chance goes up with your level, your mastery, and gear with a high-quality bonus.
- The bank always uses Normal items first, so your high-quality ones are kept.
- You can turn Normal gear into High quality by tempering it at the Broken forge.
What is high quality worth?
- Selling: +25% of the normal price.
- Gear: every bonus on it is 1.5×.
- Healing items: heal 1.5× their HP.
- Potions: last 1.5× as many charges. The effect itself is the same.
Which quality gets used?
When the game takes an item from the bank for you (materials, food, potions), it takes Normal first. When you equip or sell an item yourself, you choose which quality.
How do I temper gear?
- Rebuild the Broken forge and travel there.
- Open the Bank and select a Normal piece of gear.
- Check the cost shown, then press Temper one. The piece becomes High quality.
Tempering cannot be undone. The cost depends on the piece: coins, plus some of the bars its recipe uses. Gear with no bars in its recipe, and gear that only comes from drops, costs coins only.
Exact numbers
- Each item you make or gather rolls once for quality.
- High-quality sell price: normal price × (100 + 25) ÷ 100, rounded down. Sell bonuses from places, mastery and stations are added after that.
- High-quality gear bonuses, healing and potion charges: × 1.5, rounded down.
- Tempering cost: 2 × the piece's sell price in coins, plus half of each kind of bar its recipe uses, rounded up.
