FAQ

Short answers to the questions new players ask most. New to the game? Start with the Beginner's guide.

Playing

How do I start an activity?

Open Skills in the menu, pick a skill, and click an activity. Your character keeps doing it until you pick something else.

Does the game keep going when it is closed?

Yes, for up to 48 hours each time, with the same rules as when you watch. When you come back, Welcome back shows what you got. More: time away.

Why did my character stop?

It is blocked. It ran out of materials or arrows, the bank has no free slot for a new item, a bow fight has no bow equipped, or you were defeated. The game says why. Fix it and the work starts again.

Can I do two things at once?

No. Your character does one activity at a time. Choosing what to do next is the game.

What should I train first?

Whatever your next place needs. Follow the Beginner's guide, then see Places to rebuild.

Is there prestige, rebirth or a reset?

No. Progress is permanent, and the story has a real ending.

Places and the map

How do I rebuild a place?

Open Map, click the place and press Rebuild it. Your character makes what is missing, walks there and hands it over.

Why did Rebuild it stop before the place was rebuilt?

Most often, coins. Walking costs 10 coins per step on the map, and your character cannot walk there without them. Sell something in the Bank and press Rebuild it again. Choosing other work also stops it. What was already made stays in your bank.

Why does Scout the frontier find nothing?

It only finds places next to a place you have rebuilt, and only if you meet that place's level need. Rebuild a place at the edge of the map, or train the skill the place needs. More: the map.

Do rebuilt places make things for me?

No. They open activities, recipes, shops and bonuses for your own work. The one exception is tax income: a small amount of coins over time, never items.

Coins and the bank

How do I get coins?

Sell items in the Bank, complete quests, and rebuild places that pay coins once. See Making money.

My bank is full. What now?

Each kind of item takes 1 slot, and a slot holds any amount. Sell or use some items, or buy a slot with the + in the Bank. The first extra slot costs 20 coins; each one after costs more. Some places give free slots when you rebuild them.

Can I buy materials?

No. Shops sell only finished goods, at 4 times their sell price. Materials always come from your own work.

Items

What is high quality?

Some of what you make comes out high quality. It sells for 25% more. High-quality gear gives 1.5 times the bonus, high-quality healing items heal 1.5 times as much, and a high-quality potion has 1.5 times the charges. More: quality.

What are potions?

Potions make one skill better for a while. Most are made with Medicine. Each skill has 1 potion slot: in the Bank, click a potion and press Put 1 in the … slot. Each completed action uses 1 charge. More: potions.

What is mastery?

Each activity has its own mastery level, up to 99. It rises as you do that activity and makes it better. Each skill also has a mastery pool that fills as you work. More: mastery.

Fights

Do I have to fight?

No. Every place can be opened through skills that are not fighting. But some items only drop in fights, and 100% needs every named enemy beaten once.

How do I equip gear?

On the Fight page: under You, click a slot and press Equip. Only equipped gear gives bonuses. Tools go in the Tool slot.

What happens if I am defeated?

The fight stops and you recover where you fell, with full HP. Every equipped piece loses 1 durability. Most pieces have 2; a piece with none left breaks at the next defeat. See Getting ready for fights.

Can I lose progress?

No. Levels, rebuilt places and quests are never lost. Only gear can break, after too many defeats.
